The load screen of Jet Velocity 2 makes it quite apparent that you are not about to embark on yet another street style or circuit style racing game. Even though this game would be classified as racing — it involves manoeuvring a futuristic hovercraft through a very narrow circuit and hence the physics of it is quite different from what you would expect from a car game.

Starting up, you’ll notice that the game says “speed boosts” and “weapons” and you might think that this is a space shooter/defender style game. In reality, this is more like a Star Wars Pod race with elements of Death Race in it. The fact that you get illuminated speed boosts and weapon boosts will certainly amuse Death Race fans. Speed boosts are temporary and basically slingshot you further when you run over them. Weapons serve to slow your opponents down and speed you ahead of them. There are four different kinds and each has a dedicated key for releasing or you can hit space bar and whatever weapon you have at your disposal will be engaged.

Superstar Racing is a MMORPG in the arcade style racing genre, which gives you a chance to race with some of the most skilled players around the globe. There are millions of players registered for this free browser game which proves its extreme popularity.

You can register online with the game distributor, Bigpoint. After you have filled in your email and selected a login name and password, you are off and running. You need to install the game client, which will allow you to participate in the track racing events.

Customized Car and Driver

Superstar Racing allows you to select a character to be your driver and you manage his or her overall appearance. You can buy special clothing, jackets, helmets, accessories and team colours for your character. You use credits to buy things for your character, and team funds to buy things for your car.

You are represented on the screen by your chosen character for the driver. You can customise it to represent the gender. You can manipulate this character’s movements through the use of the mouse.

The game allows you to select your vehicle. There is a wide range of dazzling vehicles to choose from, in colours and engine sizes that are any racer’s dream.  You can tune up your car, and equip it with performance enhancing equipment in the garage.
