Generally you will race against three other competitors on low gravity surfaces. Driving is automatic but you control when to use nitrous boost so that your car stays right side up. The tracks are very up and down so useful tricks like back and also front flips come in very handy. Want to increase your speed quickly? Then tap and hold the right side of the screen. Need to bring your car back down onto the track? Tap the left hand side of the screen to trigger the gravity assist function. One thing to keep note of is the Nitro boost as you need to keep it well topped up so you get enough lift and power plus help to perform your tricks.

A few features to challenge you are boxes dotted around containing weapons (heat seeking missiles) defences and a mine that is very difficult to spot so watch out for that one. I found these added interest to the game while also keeping you alert so you didn’t accidentally race over a mine for instance causing the inevitable explosion. There is also a shield that can be obtained to help your defence but it depends how lucky you are as to whether you obtain it or not.

The game generally is not difficult although having said that performing the tricks and still finishing the race first can be taxing but worth it as when completed you can go to a bonus level to gain moon bux or cash as we like to call it to improve your car. To sum up Lunar Racer is quirky plus is a diversion from the usual racing game simply because of its location. Its fun to play, the graphics are colourful and atmospheric plus the soundtrack is great. I love the way the lunar buggies flip and fly through the air making this a very different type of racing game.

The control system in this game differs from the usual as it is controlled by touch screen. The player moves his car by placing their finger behind the police car to move it left or right or send the vehicle where you would like it to go. This means if you want to go right move left or left move right. Sounds strange but it does work. There are twenty two levels to choose from along with three types of mission so getting bored or finishing the game quickly just will not happen.

The aim of the game is to pursue maybe one car or even two at the same time until you catch them to make an arrest. In order to achieve this you have to ram the cars a few times to put them out of commission. There is a challenge mission or emergency mission, the former requiring you to get to check points within a certain time limit the latter needing you to escort prisoners to their destination. They are a pleasant diversion from the chase.

Every mission enables the player to win up to five stars. These stars will let you advance to other stages if you win enough of them or give you new vehicles. The graphics are phenomenal there is an overhead view plus the audio sound from the helicopter is superb. Here and there “breaking news” flags or banners will appear on the screen plus there is an on screen timer clock ticking away to add to the excitement.

There is little to criticise in this game. It delivers on all levels producing a breathtaking game full of thrills and spills crashes and tumbles. It is everything a car chase should be and more so inevitably will give the player hours of fun entertainment.

The main play mode in this game is the career mode but other alternate modes of play include challenge mode, single race and Wi Fi multi player modes. Career mode with its host of upgrades for every car you drive, along with eighteen cars to choose from will give you endless possibilities. Players race to win cups. There are twelve cups with 4/6 races involved plus there is prize money to be won with bonus cash available depending on where you finished in over all position at the end of the cup races. You can improve or modify your vehicle to gain a better PI (performance index) rating. Each cup has a PI range that your chosen vehicle must fit into somewhere to be able to play on, while once your cars PI reaches its maximum capacity you will need to buy a new vehicle with higher ranges to race in more difficult cup races.

Challenge mode as an alternative brings diversity to the game. When playing in this mode your vehicle choice is decided for you along with the track that you will race on. This mode lets you move on quickly to the next challenge while still giving you targets to aim for. Reckless Racing 2 has five alternative control schemes to choose from so you won’t find it difficult to find one to suit plus you can adjust your steering to suit.

The screen effect of this game are fantastic in fact they look quite cinematic or would if transferred to a large screen. As you speed along the dust flies up from the track under your wheels, there are smashed fences plus road cones fly through the air for effect. As a portable game this is second to none. The hours of game pleasure you will enjoy more than compensates for the higher price you may have to pay for this game. You may pay slightly more but believe me Reckless Racing 2 is a real investment.

There are fifteen tracks full of thrills and spills including corkscrew turns, dangerous jumps and even loop the loop. You begin the game by selecting a kart working your way up the cc’s from 50cc to eventually reach 150cc’s. Power ups can be won along the way that will let you attack your adversaries, while the game has the usual tilt controls plus the usual press the screen function and your kart will accelerate. Unfortunately this game does not have the multi player option which most fans of the genre prefer.

You can however still have a lot of fun without this feature. For example should an opponent hack you off just send a fireball careering right up his exhaust pipe!Alternatively you can drop oil on the track to disrupt the opposition or shoot a missile at them to see them off. Other fun actions you can take are dropping a mine, steeling another drivers kit or releasing slimy tar on to the road to mar his progress. Its fantastic fun especially if you are feeling particularly cruel towards the opposition.

The graphics are smooth and colourful plus the soundtrack is cool to listen to. There are three difficulty levels so you can start off easy progressing onto more difficult stages as your skill improves. All in all its a quirky game that you will love, giving you hours of fun and entertainment.

As this game is played out in a dream the possibilities are endless for our hero. He can do things not possible in real life such as move cars whenever he likes taking over the controls from the driver. Its all great fun! For instance if you are having difficulty catching up with your target when in pursuit you can just take over the controls of an oncoming vehicle making it crash into him. There are plenty of different missions for you to try like driving an injured person to hospital before he dies. You have to keep his heart rate stable in order to keep him alive. Another mission sees you driving under lorries to diffuse bombs before they explode. In order to do this you have to move from car to car choosing vehicles small enough to drive underneath.

Driver San Francisco also has multi player mode which is a plus as it can be played on line too. There are a variety of games to unlock such as a cops and robbers game or tag game, all adding to the fun while the video editor feature means that you can record and edit your own short films.
The graphics as with everything else are superb. The city looks very realistic being full of background action with life like characters that take on their own personality. They even have amusing dialogue like in the movies with many hilarious one liners. There are plenty of side missions to play so the game can be as long or short as you want plus you can win bonuses to unlock cars or gain extra willpower.

To sum up Driver San Francisco is a fantastic driving game that I strongly recommend. There are hours of play time to be had either alone or with friends. Anyone who loves action movies such as Schwarzenegger, Van Damme, Lundgren or Stallone will really enjoy this game as it is a great reminder of the great action movies of the 80′s and 90′s.

If you were an avid player of Forza Motorsport 3 you will be rewarded when moving onto this next game as you will get a selection of cars plus money based on your driving expertise gained in the previous game or whether you had VIP status or not. Unfortunately if you are completely new to the game you will not have this advantage so will begin with whatever car you find in your garage unlike previous players who may be fortunate enough to find a Lamborghini at their disposal.

This game has many good features such as assisted braking, assisted steering and traction control . You can switch theses features on or off as required. They are handy when just starting out but if you want to up your skill levels or make the game harder to play you may decide to try to carry on minus these features. Another useful feature to measure your skills by is the on screen graphic that rates your skills when cornering or overtaking. It also shows if you are drifting between lanes something you obviously don’t want to do when racing.

World Tour mode is great differing greatly from game 3′s career mode as it gives the player much more freedom in terms of which car you can drive plus there are a good choice of events. You also earn the right to a new car when you gain enough experience points with a choice of makes at your disposal. For example when you reach level 30 you will automatically be awarded a Ferrari or another model equally as prestigious.

The longer you drive a make of car the better as the manufacturer will reward you with cash bonuses or discounts on upgrades. This feature enables you to make your favourite vehicles competitive online plus you will have more cash left to buy new cars. All the vehicles in this game are easy to drive with in car views of where you are going along with cameras fitted externally to the vehicle giving great all round views of where you are at. This is useful as your competitors on the track don’t seem to be the best drivers so you need to be aware of who is beside you or immediately behind.

As a follow up game I wondered if Forza Motorsport 4 would live up to the challenge but there was no need for pessimism as this game surpasses everything I expected or hoped it would be. The graphics and soundtrack are superb giving the game a great atmosphere plus realism. All in all it is a racing game I would most definitely recommend.

A superb example of using the varied weather feature is racing round a rain soaked track at one of the many real life venues. The spray that comes up onto the screen makes you feel like you are really inside a car with the rain slashing down on the track. The slash of the wind screen wiper as it removes the excess water from the glass is incredible.

Players can also progress to gain credits through the various modes such as GT Career Mode, Championship Races or License Tests and Arcade Mode. Racing online is also a feature that can be enjoyed along with up to 16 other players. There is an optional false starts function that can make things interesting plus several online rooms can be created with whatever set up you like.

Novices of this type of game may of course find it difficult to play but having a little foresight the manufacturer has thought of this adding some great assist features to ensure you can at least get started without hurtling into the first obstacle you encounter. This means you can drive a superb state of the art car as easily as driving a Go kart so you won’t feel inadequate or left on the starting grid.

The diversity of choice of vehicle is great in this game ranging from its simple karts to its state of the art cars to suit all comers. Players can begin with a simple vehicle tuning plus improving it along the way to turn it into a force to be reckoned with. Various upgrades are available while playing in the superb photo mode makes for excellent viewing.

To sum up players of this genre will love this game it has all the hallmarks of previous offerings and more. The detail of the graphics along with the minute detail that is attended to in terms of the vehicles, tracks and drivers makes it one to play again and again.

The settings for the races are urban winding through cities or the dock areas and rural winding through mountains and countryside.

Attention to detail in Mini Motor racing is superb. You will see tyre burns on the road as you speed along while when racing at night time your headlights will really light up the road ahead with clarity. Ultimately if you enjoy being on the race track and require a game that has excitement, thrills plus spills then this is definitely the racing game for you!
